Intensive weekend workshop for saxophonists, maximum 4 participants
In my new studio in Dannenberg (Elbe), a former ballet studio, I am offering two exclusive saxophone workshops in Wendland this year. The limitation to 4 participants promises a very intensive learning and workshop experience and the opportunity to deal with everyone in a very personal and profound way. The content of the workshop results from my decades of experience as a big band, section and ensemble player as well as my work as a composer, arranger, workshop leader and ensemble coach (see Mat's fact sheet). If everyone wants it, at the end of the workshop there will be the opportunity to record and make available the material that has been developed as audio and video. In any case, you will be able to benefit from the joint work for a long time to come and raise the level of play to a new level.
Theme: ensemble playing
We will work together on one or more pieces for saxophone quartet and highlight the essential points that are essential for convincing teamwork. This includes intonation, timing, articulation, sound/blending, expression. But there is also room in this workshop for improvisation and individual questions, for example.

1st workshop: Friday, 29.07. until Sunday, 07/31/22
2nd workshop: Friday, 05.08. until Sunday 07.08.22
Arrival and first meeting would be Friday at 6:00 p.m. The workshop consists of 3 blocks of 3 hours each, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Location
Dannenberg (Elbe) in Wendland (about 100 km southeast of Hamburg). You can travel from Hamburg by train if you have the time (change trains in Lüneburg). The Wendland is one of the most pristine natural landscapes in Germany. It invites you to hike and explore nature.
accommodation, meals
Board and lodging are not included in the price. In Dannenberg and the surrounding area there are hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, I'm happy to help you choose.
Drinks (coffee, tea, water, juice) are provided.
Prices
Price for participation in the workshop €370 per person, payable no later than 5 weeks before the start of the workshop.
cancellation
The workshops are each designed for 4 participants and the success of the joint work depends on everyone actually taking part. Due to this circumstance, the following cancellation conditions apply, regardless of the reason for the cancellation:
Up to 4 weeks before the start of the workshop, I charge a processing fee of €25 for cancellations.
Up to 3 weeks before the start of the workshop, I charge a quarter of the participation fee for cancellations.
Up to 2 weeks before the start of the workshop, I charge half of the participation fee for cancellations.
Up to 1 week before the start of the workshop, I charge three quarters of the participation fee for cancellations.
For cancellations within one week before the start of the workshop, I charge the full participation fee.

It is important that the participants in the workshop form a coherent group in terms of experience, combination of instruments, musical preferences, etc. In order to ensure this and thus the success of the workshops, I put together the group for each workshop individually.
